GLOBSEC Forum 2026
TDI’s Chief Executive Officer Jay Truesdale returned to GLOBSEC in Prague, connecting with longtime colleagues and engaging with the most important issues shaping European and transatlantic security. He joined a distinguished panel on the main Havel Stage to discuss the impact of the war in Iran on economies and politics.
A few takeaways from Jay’s remarks:
- Despite indications and warnings, most global companies were severely underprepared. In the weeks-long military buildup, ultimatums, and election-cycle timing all signaled a possible strike, yet most corporations lacked contingency planning, and many companies continue to be late in reacting to second and third-order effects.
- Quantitative risk models aren’t enough. Probabilistic frameworks based on scrubbed data sets identify the most likely outcomes, not necessarily the most dangerous ones. Repeated global shocks have reinforced the need to pair quantitative analysis with intelligence and expert judgment.
- Capital is moving selectively. After an initial risk-off period, investment is flowing back into certain sectors, including aerospace, defense, and renewables, even as inflation, fiscal pressures, and potential rate hikes will remain braking mechanisms across global markets.
