TDI on Iran Conflict and Risks to Shipping
Speaking with The Wall Street Journal’s Anthony Harrup, Jay Truesdale discussed threats to maritime traffic in the Persian Gulf and the limits of short-term solutions such as insurance support from the U.S. International Development Finance Corporation.
“The security risk must be properly underwritten and priced, just like any insurance company would demand,” he noted.
He also cautioned that naval escorts may have limited impact: “The volume of shipping that goes through the strait is so prodigious that escorts cannot provide one-to-one vessel coverage.”
